Emily's first haircut

Emily's hair is in that weird stage. It is not long enough to really cut the back of it yet and the front of it wasn't long enough to make it even with the back. However, her bangs were completely out of control. Everyday I would try to brush her hair in a way that she could see without all the hair in her eyes. RT asked that I wait until he got home before she got her first haircut since he had missed so many other "firsts". By the time he got here, she was more than ready to get her bangs cut out of her eyes. These are the pictures of my baby's first haircut. She did wonderful because her Daddy was holding her the whole time!

Homecoming!!!!

This is Emily waiting for her Daddy to come home from deployment. RT returned to Italy from Afghanistan on Monday the 21st after almost 15 months of being gone. It was honestly one of the happiest days of my life. I took the biggest sigh of relief and for the first time in over a year, I felt complete again. Emily has taken to her Daddy being home so well. They told RT that it could take up to 90 days for her to really adjust to him being home. The first day that he had to return to work, he was already gone when she woke up. The first thing she asked me that morning was "where is my Daddy". I made the mistake of saying that he had to go to work. She cried so hard and I wasn't sure what to do. See, I had told Emily the whole time RT was deployed that he was at work. She associated that term with him being gone for a really long time. So, now when she asks where he is, our new term is that "he is gone to make money!" I have so many things to post about but we will just start with the homecoming pictures and him coming home. Thanks again to all our friends for the thoughts and prayers while he was gone!

This is where the buses came around the corner and we could see the guys coming in. I think I was having trouble breathing right here! I knew in just a few minutes RT was going to be standing right in front of me, something I had been waiting for for such a long time!

The guys started to file onto the field and it was crazy trying to find RT. They all look so much alike in their ACUs and there were soldiers everywhere.

There are no words to tell you how this felt!

And so it begins...

I decided to start a blog and try to keep more people in the loop of what is going on with us since we are so far away from anyone in the States. I know that I am a little late starting this since we have lived in Italy for about a year and a half and Emily is two now. However, I just thought that it would be nice to be able to let people back home know what is happening here in Italy. Also, my friend Jennifer is so excited that I am finally doing this and I can't disappoint her now!
